PLANTS, PRINTS AND BIG HAIR.

Today i would like to introduce to you a lovely lady's work: Sabrina Arnault is a french illustrator based in Montreal. I really enjoy her black and white pieces, her simple and minimal lines depicting different types of women, sometimes wearing animal prints and surrounded by plants and cactuses.
P.S. you can have a look at her prints shop here.

THE NANNY AND THE ROLLEIFLEX.

Vivian Maier, the newfound street photographer everybody's talking about: a mysterious nanny, who secretly took over 100,000 photographs that were hidden in storage lockers and discovered decades later.
I really enjoyed going through the online archive of her images, and the ones which hit me the most were her self portraits, her image (always with a serious, straight-faced expression) reflected on every kind of mirrored surface.
To learn more about the nanny with the rolleiflex, have a look at her story here, or watch the interesting documentary Finding Vivian Maier.

L.A. STREETS.

I always enjoy to see somebody's impression of a city, and Chris Turnham's one is very peculiar.
He moved to L.A. form Portland three years ago, and started observing what was around him, the city and its many different neighborhoods, each one with its different architectural style and structural appearance.
What came out is a serie of 20 prints capturing as many Los Angeles distinctive spots, from villas to taco-stands: the graphic effect that characterizes every piece (it's reminding me a lot of illustrations and animated works from the 60's) is made from the layers of screenprint technique, which limits every print to maximum 6 colors. The final effect is just stunning.

AERIAL BOTSWANA.

It's been a long time since i wanted to share these aerial photos of the Botswana landscapes.
Zack Seckler is a Brooklin based photographer who travelled with this ultra-light aircraft to catch some crazy beautiful images. Here's his words from a Wired interview: “Within the first few minutes of being up there, I was just completely blown away,” he says. “Being in that airspace, you’re really seeing the world from a perspective that only birds see. Obviously no human on the ground can see that, and the big jumbo jets up above don’t fly that low. So it’s kind of this hidden airspace to the human eye, and it just immediately struck me as a really powerful visual.

WATERCOLOR CROWDS.

Today i'd like to show you a new illustration find i'm really excited about (actually i've been rotating some of these images as my desktop wallpaper for a while).
I instantly felt in love with Monica Ramos works, amazing watercolor illustrations, depicting crowded circumstances (how great is the I hate selfies piece above?) with many detailed situations, each and every one unique but always with a stunning color palette and the same distinguishable feminine style.
